The Art Fair Flood of 2013

This past weekend I participated in the 12th annual Ravenswood Art Walk art fair.  The walk is a fun weekend highlighting the arts in the Ravenswood corridor area of Chicago. I had a booth selling my illustrations and paper goods  in the huge artist’s tent.  Me and my husband, mind_ful photography, split a booth. He takes photographs of raw nature with a focus on texture and found geometry. Check out his tumblr

Saturday was extra exciting because there was a huge extended thunderstorm that ended up flooding our area of the event shelter. Here is a hilarious picture of me speedily packing up the booth as the tide headed our way.

Sunday was a lovely fall day, sunny and cool. It would have been a perfect day for a nature walk. One of my most enthusiastic customers, a boy of about 9 years, returned for a second day to purchase another of my imaginary creature illustrations. Nothing makes me happier than kids loving my work.  That is a mark of success for children's illustration.

Shoppers really responded to my illustrations from Lilla Rogers Studio Making art that sells course, proving that the course is aptly named!

We met a few fellow vendors with great work- Squasht, Lavender Brown and my old colleague from Lilstreet Arts Center Michelle Starbuck Designs.

I created a few new products for the art fair and will be listing them in my etsy shop soon!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth this weekend!
